In response to Beach

Once upon a time I lived on the beach. Not literally, but pretty close to it. My friends and I could be found there in the freezing cold, eating chips, huddled together and in the bright sun, refusing to leave for 6/7 hours.

My hometown doesn’t even have the nicest of beaches, but there’s something comforting in the warm embrace of pebbles.

Now, of course, I live not too far from the beach, but it’s hard to arrange day trips so I’ve become a bit of a city girl.

But, in it’s own way, I do love Canterbury. There are nice cafes, lovely shops, the river, the huge cathedral. But, deep down, I know my place is by the sea, not amongst historical streets.
